On the Undead
Gaia is a strange and wondrous place, home to hundreds of thousands of different types of fauna and flora. From the emerald forests of Espon, to the amber deserts of Dalmara, to the wine-dark seas and their depths, creatures both mundane and magical share our home with us.
Where’s the Community? A Look at Individualism in Fantasy Narratives
In a lot of isekai I’ve read, there’s this fascination with what I like to describe as “main character syndrome.” It’s essentially where a character—usually the main character—is the absolute best at anything, relegating all peripheral characters to side players at best and inconsequential at worst.
Q1 Update 2025
Ah, here we are again, at the beginning of a New Year, for whatever that is worth! A time for reflection, resetting, and grand plans for the next 365 days.
Yeah, let’s hope on that bandwagon.
Field Notes - Lorn
Yet another entry from the field notes of Jesst Jachorien (who is keeping this blog afloat), an intrepid biologist and explorer who travels the world cataloging dangerous and mysterious fauna from around the world of Gaia!

On the Death of Magic
How long has it been since magic flowed freely through our world, making wonders and miracles beyond Human comprehension possible? Strange creatures roamed wherever they wished, beautiful and terrible. Some magicians provided aid to those who needed it, while others used their abilities to selfishly gain power… and still others used theirs for profit.
All the Swag for Blades Reforged
Almost a year since we looked at swag for Lost Blades, here we are. Still on the internet! Success!
Oh, and we have the swag for Blades Reforged! Which will be out on September 12 of this year, exactly one year after the launch of Lost, creating a beautiful circle. I love circles. They are wonderful. Very…. circuitous.
The Primordial Deities
March 12, 1762 - Concerning the Gods pt. 4
The Primordial Deities.
The last, and the first.
Tadurin and Hades were the first of their kind to come into existence, so perhaps it is only fitting that we end with them.
On Vampires
By Aleeah Cross
I was recently sent this article by a friend. It was published in The Journal of Empire History late last year, and he thought it would amuse me. It does not.
When you think of the greatest threats our beloved Empire has had to deal with in the last a thousand years, what do you think of?
Let’s Talk About Colors of Magic
Hello! It has been a while since I did a blog, but it’s for a good reason — I was finishing my draft of Blades Reforged! I’m excited to say that I’ll be able to bring the conclusion of the Blades of the Goddess series to you in September, but in the meantime…
…Let’s talk about Colors of Magic!
Broken Blades Teasers!
I can’t believe it — as of last Friday, I’ve published two books! Two!
I won’t lie, I’m exhausted, especially since I had two more books - Colors of Magic and Blades Reforged - go on preorder at the same time. So for this blog post, I thought I’d do a roundup of all the Broken Blades teasers.
Q1 Update
Hello, everyone! Happy New Year!
Fourth quarter was a wild ride, and I’m super excited for 2024! I have three books that I expect to publish this year, and I can’t wait to share them with you all! But first let’s take a look at what got done — and what didn’t — over the holiday season.
The Distant Trinity
The “Distant” Trinity.
Named such because of their association with celestial bodies and the fact that, to be quite frank, they do far less meddling than many of the other gods. In theory, at least. I personally find it far more likely they are just better at covering their tracks.
Let’s talk about Campfire
You may have noticed that at the end of October I started mentioning that Lost Blades was available on Campfire. Your first thought was probably “What on earth is Campfire?”, possibly followed closely by “Why is she publishing Lost Blades on a site I’ve never heard of?”
Swag for Broken Blades!
I know, I know — Lost Blades released two months ago. Why are we talking about Broken Blades?
Well, because that is releasing in just about two months on January 12!
Which means it’s time to show off all the fun, free stuff you can get!
